This is a design that I made for a zombie killing weapon. I also created a set of pistols and a rifle to match. This particular design is quite advanced. But I'm positive it would work!

first off we need to look at real weapons
secondly weapons that dont reload are the best. the entrenching tool will be the best CQB weapon. for something with range, look at pole arms something with a 12" blade and 6 ft pole. this can give you a reach and able to swing and cleave some heads.
right now i have a ninja-to with a strong sharp blade. also a tree pruner with a 14" saw blade for cutting branches. which i can grind to a good blade.

im not too sure what its made of, but when i got it years ago i tried it out on some trees. there were no problems. its the only sword that i have ever bought that was edged properly. its a bit thicker then a katana and doesnt have the same flimsy flex. out of my collection, i would say its the best bet. too bad i sold that halberd.
so in short, yes its reliable

you should slap the flat part on concrete. Its realiable if it dosnt break. If you have it and slip and fall and slam it on a wall and Z is all around you then youll have thought that.

1 good sturdy medium caliber rifle prefferably semiautomatic w/ a cleaning kit, 1 handgun 9mm,40,45,or makarov prefferably silenced w/ cleaning kit, 1blade 12 inches or more combat ready, 1 blunt weapon such as a bat or crowbar second one is better, 1 hammer ball peen pereferably, and 1 shitload of ammo

why not 2 shitload of ammo's? And Im not gonna be able carry a rifle, handgun, machette, crowbar, and hammer. Its not like they have a cop belt that holds all that

rifle 9.5lbs ak empty
pistol 2.1 lbs empty
machete 1-2 lbs
crowbar 3 lbs for 18"
hammer 2 lbs
i looked up the weights, i know most rifles are 7-10 lbs. so your going to be carrying aprox 20lbs on you, plus ammo, so make that about 25lbs if you dont over do it with clips. now how much other stuff will you be able to carry and still not limit your mobility? remember your still going to need first aid, food rations, spare clothes and survival stuff. just guessing, but that would be about 60lbs on you.
and i doubt that you would drop it in a fight, cause you probably wouldnt get it back.

sure it doesnt weigh much but consider where your going to put it? I cant access all those weapons if there in a pack. So I would have to put them on a belt.

where the hell you going? if your gonna be leaving your base if its overrun youll need to carry it like it or not and when hunting i care 30+ pounds not including my clothes also im not going camping in a zombie senario unless i have to. Scavaging should be stay light for that id take my rifle, sidearm, and melee weapon. then food,water,first aid. and myself.
